Ms. Betsy Gengo is an Elementary Band Director in the Williamsville Central Schools where she teaches two bands and group lessons. She is a Williamsville Mentor Teacher, Music Curriculum Committee member, and Co-Director of the Williamsville 5th & 6th Grade Summer Band.  Every summer, she coordinates the Beginning Band Boot Camp for 4th grade band students in Williamsville. In addition to her school duties, she maintains a private bassoon studio, has guest conducted All County Bands in NY and presented at the NYS Band Directors' Association Conference in Erie County. In 2021, Betsy was awarded the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra & Erie County Music Educators Assoc. Award for Excellence in Music Education. She is the principal bassoonist with the National Award Winning American Legion Band of the Tonawandas, Post 264 and performs regularly with the Williamsville Community Band.

Ms. Gengo received her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education with a performance certificate from SUNY Fredonia and the Master of Music Education in Arts Administration from Florida State University.

For 24 years, Betsy has been co-teaching Bristol’s Junior Band, coordinating nightly recitals, coaching small ensembles and teaching lessons. Gratefully, her junior high band teacher/former staff member recruited her to be a Bristol camper in 7th grade and she’s never turned back. Betsy has an adult son, Elliott, who grew up in this special family, too. The fun, nurturing and creative staff/students inspire her every summer!
