Maria Elmer
Staff Pianist
Maria Elmer is a collaborative pianist and music director from Albany, New York. Maria is currently the Lower School Music Teacher at Woodland Hill Montessori School and the Music Director at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Schenectady. She has served as Instrumental Accompanist and Adjunct Piano Faculty at SUNY Schenectady and District Wide Accompanist and Music Librarian for the Niskayuna School District.
Maria has Music Directed Les Miserables and Aida with the School of Performing Arts at Proctors and for numerous other theater companies including Ordinary Days at Schenectady Light Opera Company and Little Shop of Horrors and And the World Goes Round with Not So Common Players. She performed The Impresario, Bastien and Bastienne, and Il Campanello di Notte with Capitol Opera Albany. Maria also Assistant Music Directed and performed on the studio recording of The Wrong Box, an original musical written by Kit Goldstein Grant.
Maria holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Nazareth College where she studied with Stephen Kennedy and Kevin Nitsch. She has also studied with jazz pianist Lee Shaw and collaborative pianist Michael Clement.
