Ms. Rachel Heyman

A cappella Elective Director, Junior Choir Director, Junior Sight Singing Director

Ms. Rachel Heyman is a chorus teacher in the Mamaroneck Union Free School District in Westchester County, New York. At Hommocks Middle School, she directs the 6th Grade Concert Choir, a select 6th grade ensemble, and serves as the director for the annual school musical. At Mamaroneck High School, she directs In Treble, an upper-voice select ensemble. Previously, she taught chorus and general music at Pleasantville Middle School. Her ensembles have earned Gold with Distinction at NYSSMA Majors as well as Best Overall Choir and Superior ratings at Music in the Parks. In 2024, she returned to her hometown of Syracuse to guest conduct the Onondaga County Junior High All-County Choir. She is also a certified NYSSMA adjudicator.

 

Rachel graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. She holds a Master of Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from CUNY Hunter. She has an extensive background in musical theater, having directed and music-directed numerous children’s productions and performed in various community theater productions. As a singer, she has performed internationally with award-winning choirs and regionally with a cappella ensembles, serving as music director, arranger, and vocal percussionist.

 

Rachel has been part of the Bristol Hills Music Camp family since she first attended as a camper in 2008. She became a counselor in 2012 and joined the staff in 2017. At camp, she directs the Junior High All-Camp Choir, the a cappella elective, and the junior sight-singing course. This one fabulous week continues to be the highlight of her year!
