Matthew Gayle is a summa cum laude graduate of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, receiving a Bachelor's of Music with a double concentration in Music Education and Musical Studies in 2007. He went on to receive an MA in Musicology in 2009 from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa where he specialized in film music studies. Matt currently teaches Chorus, General Music, and Modern Band at A.A.Kingston Middle School in Potsdam, NY. 

 

Matt is a strong believer in the power of popular music education and is dedicated to helping foster the growth of the Modern Band movement throughout New York State. In addition to his middle school bands, Matt also directs the St. Lawrence University Modern Band and is actively involved in helping create a New York chapter of the Association for Popular Music Education. He also serves as a member of the New York State School Music Association’s Curriculum Committee and is a passionate advocate for developing standards-based music instruction that is relevant and meaningful to all students.
