BHMC History

Beginning as a marching band camp 60 years ago, Bristol Hills Music Camp has evolved through the years into our current program, which includes musical enrichment for band, orchestra and vocal participants.

We are the only residential music camp in New York State that still exists in the traditional camp setting where we live in cabins, eat in a dining hall, practice in the beauty of nature, and have campfires!

Since camp is held toward the end of summer, campers have a head-start in music as they return to school.

Our camp has Upper Village and Lower Village, separated by the Main Lodge and the Central Bathhouse. Campers are only permitted in their respective villages. They live in cabins that house between 7 and 21 campers and counselors. There is a Bathhouse in each village. Cabins are arranged by age.

Additionally, the music groups are formed by age, separated by Junior High and Senior High groups.  Occasionally a musician will be moved to a different group to help with instrumentation or at the recommendation of the group directors.

We hope you'll consider sending your young musician to join our long tradition of making music at camp!
